Το νεο-συσταθέν “Ευρωπαϊκό Κολλέγιο Διαχείρισης Υγείας των Υδρόβιων Ζωικών Οργανισμών” (European College of Aquatic Animal Health, ECAAH) απευθύνει πρόσκληση σε τυχών ενδιαφερόμενους ιχθυοπαθολόγους να υποβάλουν αίτηση για de-facto αναγνώρισή τους ως διπλωματούχων του Κολλεγίου (Diplomate in ECAAH).
Όπως αναφέρεται στην πρόσκληση, στα απαραίτητα προσόντα για τη de-facto αναγνώριση συμπεριλαμβάνονται: (1) προϋπηρεσία τουλάχιστον 10 χρόνια στο αντικείμενο του Κολλεγίου, (2) σχετικό διδακτορικό ή ισοδύναμο μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο και (3) τουλάχιστον 10 δημοσιεύσεις σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά με κριτές, οι οποίες να αναφέρονται σε θέματα Διαχείρισης Υγείας Υδρόβιων Ζωικών Οργανισμών.

H Καθηγήτρια κ Αθανασοπούλου είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος του Κολλεγίου και πρώην Πρόεδρος του «Παγκόσμιου Συλλόγου Κτηνιατρικής των Υδρόβιων Ζωικών Οργανισμών» (World Aquatic Veterinary Medicine Association). Έχει ορισθεί υπεύθυνη για την αξιολόγηση των αιτήσεων.
Η πρόσκληση θα παραμείνει ανοιχτή για πέντε χρόνια. Την παραθέτομε παρακάτω, όπως τη λάβαμε από το Κολλέγιο.

- Membership and qualifications for membership
In order to establish the ECAAH Executive Committee has the responsibility of electing de facto Diplomates.
De facto Diplomate: is a Diplomate appointed by the Interim Executive Committee. During the first five years following provisional recognition of the College, the Interim Executive Committee may appoint a small number of additional de facto Diplomates who are also “Founding Diplomates” and are expected to contribute to the running of the College and must meet the general criteria described below for the members of the Interim Executive Committee.

Please note that under the terms of the provisional recognition granted to the ECAAH by the European Board of Veterinary Specialities (EBVS), the criteria outlined below must be strictly applied:
- Criteria of De facto Diplomates:
Be initiators in their field;
i. Have achieved distinction in the field, and have qualifications far exceeding those proposed as necessary for candidates to take the certifying examination of the organisation;
ii. Be internationally recognised as a qualified specialist by peers, and
a. have at least ten years experience in the speciality, and by teaching, research, or practice have contributed significantly to the development of the speciality or
b. have advanced training (PhD or equivalent) in the speciality; have demonstrated competency through teaching, research or practice in the speciality to which the individual devotes most of his or her professional time, and
c. be author of at least ten significant publications in peer-reviewed journals resulting from the research or practice in the speciality;
iii. Be uncontroversial to the majority of the membership;
iv. Spend at least 50 per cent of their time in the speciality, based on a normal working week of 40 hours.
v. Be practicing or licensed to practice in Europe;
vi. Practice scientific, evidence-based veterinary medicine, which complies with animal welfare legislation;
viii. Display the willingness to contribute to the growth of the College (e.g. by training residents).
Selection will be made by the Interim Executive Committee on the basis of a submitted CV. All persons known to be interested in becoming a member of ECAAH shall be invited to apply for de facto registration by means of a personal letter, or by open advertisement in journals or congresses outlining the above mentioned requirements.
